Edwards Endorses Obama

Earlier today John Edwards endorsed Barack Obama for the democratic nomination. I'm not totally surprised by the endorsement, but I was a little surprised at the timing. Hillary had a big win in West Virginia the other day, but even that didn't do much to slow Obama's momentum. He's picked up more super delegates even since Clinton's win, and Edwards' endorsement is clearly a shot in the arm. Go Obama!

I just thought the timing was smart -- as a former candidate, waiting until it was pretty much impossible for Hillary to realistically claim she still had a shot, he's avoided having to contribute the a cleave in the party that way such an endorsement would have played only a month ago. Playing it safe in a one way. . . but also at a crucial time (sorry am now repeating the e-mail I just sent!) very possibly shoring up any gap in some of the white blue collar types who were less likely to lean to Obama. We'll see if that plays out, but it does look good! I'd take JE as Atty Gen but think they'd make a better go of it if he were the VP.
Ack, I'm sounding like a hack. I'll stop.
